Did you know that for the world to function as we know it, it needs different types of energy, but on many occasions this energy pollutes our planet a lot.
In this video we are going to learn about the types of energy that do not pollute called: Renewable Energies or Green Energies.
Although they are numerous, we are going to know the most used ones:
SOLAR ENERGY
HYDROELECTRIC ENERGY
WIND ENERGY
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Discover in video how a biomass power plant works. In a biomass power plant, electricity is generated using the heat produced by the combustion of organic materials, such as plant residues, household waste and the biogas.
Biomass or Bioenergy refers to the use of organic material to produce energy.

Miles below the Earth’s surface, there’s enough thermal energy to power all of humanity for the foreseeable future. It’s called geothermal energy, and it’s poised to play an increasingly large role as a source of always available, renewable power. Now, there are a number of startups in the geothermal space, working to figure out how to access this heat in difficult to reach geographies, at a price point that makes sense. And it’s even gotten the attention of oil and gas industry giants, who are interested in greening their portfolios while sticking to their core competencies – extracting energy resources from deep within the Earth.

We are leaders in supplying solar energy to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Our team is made up of professionals that aim to protect the environment with the latest available technologies, as well as offer long term savings to the consumer. Our experience in business and the value we place on each individual puts us one step ahead of the competition. Our goal in business is to ensure customer satisfaction and provide ideal solutions.
MISSION
Solar Optimum is in the business of contributing to global change by providing environmentally friendly, alternative, independent, affordable, and efficient energy to consumers.
PHILOSOPHY
Natural resources are scarce and our addiction to traditional forms of fuels has brought us closer to the precipice. It is up to us to change, to find new and innovative ways to fuel our lives. As a result of our addiction today, tomorrow’s generation will face challenges beyond control. We want to be a part of this change and help our community become energy independent. The bottom line? Help save our planet.
APPROACH
I. Educate
We take the privilege of educating our customers in all the areas of solar energy. In order to make wise investment decisions, you will need a solid education in renewable energy. In helping you obtain this knowledge, we have produced five easy to understand videos, along with a glossary of terms and answers to frequently asked questions, available on our company website (www.SolarOptimum.com).
II. Assess Needs
Once you get familiar with the know-hows of solar and are comfortable in moving forward, a Solar Optimum energy consultant will pay you a personal visit. During the appointment, the consultant will review past utility statements, conduct a detailed shade analysis, inspect the property for possible solar friendly areas, take measurements, and answer all the questions you may have.
III. Provide Solutions
Based on your needs, we will engineer and design the proper system, help lock in rebates, obtain the proper permits, and schedule all inspections. A Solar Optimum professional will also be present at all preferred events requiring assistance. It is our goal to provide the highest level of customer care and surpass all expectations. In the near future, the energy made in the US is going to be much greener. The country’s current goal is for solar plants alone to make nearly half of US electricity by 2050. But we can’t just build solar plants where coal and gas plants used to be. They have to be built where it’s… sunny. And wind turbines have to be built where it’s windy. The problem is, that’s not always where the people who need the power are.
The distance from energy source to energy need is about to get a lot bigger. And the US is going to need more high-voltage transmission lines. A lot more. As soon as possible. While solar plants can be built relatively fast, high-voltage transmission projects can take up to 10 years. So experts say we need to start proactively building them, right now.
This is the second of five videos we’re releasing on climate coverage this week. You can watch the first video on extreme heat 🌡 and what cities are doing to combat that here: https://youtu.be/ZQ6fSHr5TJg
And the third video on prescribed burns 🔥 for forests here: https://youtu.be/0o6ezu_h6iE

Much of the map data in the piece comes from the Net-Zero America study out of Princeton University: https://netzeroamerica.princeton.edu/
This map from the US Energy Information Association is a good way to see what power plants and high-voltage power lines are near you (if you’re in the US): https://www.eia.gov/state/maps.php

And here’s more about that denied power plant from local Vermont TV station WCAX: https://www.wcax.com/content/news/Regulators-deny-Derby-solar-project-504867011.html
This other great study is what calculated how much renewable energy potential there is in just those 15 middle states: https://acore.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Corporate-Demand-and-Transmission-January-2018.pdf

Wind is a valuable renewable energy source. Limitations like cost and space needed to build make it hard for some wind turbine projects to get off the ground. Hopefully, advancements can be made so that there is a way to store the energy that is produced via wind turbines in the future.
