EDC is the world’s largest vertically integrated geothermal energy producer. It is responsible for putting the Philippines on the map as the third largest geothermal energy producer in the world for over three decades and is the acknowledged leader in wet steam field technology.
But how does EDC harness geothermal?

Is it the perfect energy source? Not quite. Geothermal is an interesting energy source that takes advantage of the natural heat of the planet. It is long lasting, and doesn’t cause substantial pollution or emissions, but is very limited by location/siting.

There is an energy revolution happening in East Africa.
Geothermal steam in the Great Rift Valley is being harvested.
Scientists say it could lift millions of people out of poverty and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from the Olkaria power plant in Naivasha, in the Rift Valley.

Iceland has harnessed the potential of geothermal energy, heating 90% of its houses and producing 30% of its electricity with geothermal. Geothermal energy is very important in Iceland that relies 100% on renewables for both electricity and house heating. The cascading use of geothermal was also pioneered in Iceland and has created new industries in Iceland through the circular economy mindset of making the most of each resource. Icelandic expertise in geothermal is also a valuable export product.

Is Geothermal Heating & Cooling Worth It? It’s been 4 years since I installed my DIY Geothermal System, and with some experience with it, I can firmly say it was worth every penny. It may not be the perfect system for every application, but it is perfect for mine. My average monthly electric bill is only 0 per month for a 6000 square foot house. I think that speaks volumes itself.

Geothermal energy is the heat energy from the earth. First geothermal power plant was built in Italy. Dry steam power plant, Flash steam power plant, and Binary cycle power plant are the three types of Geothermal power plant. These power plants are used as per the availability of the Geothermal energy.

Geothermal is the heating system of the future. With efficiencies of 400% and no emissions it’s just the ticket for fighting climate change and oh, it’s also 700% efficient at air conditioning, perfect for those 40 Celsius summer heat waves. This week on Green Energy Futures we talk to Devon Winczura and Steve Oslanski of Envirotech Geothermal who show us why geothermal heating and cooling is the wave of the future.

In this animated whiteboard animations tutorial, I will teach you about geothermal energy and how does geothermal power plant work.
Q: What is geothermal energy?
Ans: The heat energy extracted from inside the earth in the form of water and steam is known as geothermal energy or geothermal power.
The earth’s core contain hot magma in molten or semi molten form. When the underground water comes in contact with these hot rocks, they burst up into hot springs and steam. We can then convert this heat energy into other forms of energy like electrical energy, etc.
