How to Install a Home Wind Turbine | Ask This Old House
https://www.youtube.com/user/thisoldhouse/
Ask This Old House home technology expert Ross Trethewey sees a robotic, ground mounted solar array that mimics a sunflower.
SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse
Steps:
1. The solar panel array is installed by securing four massive earth screws into the ground to act as a base.
2. The solar panel array is then craned off of a truck into place on top of the earth screws.
3. A trench is dug from the array to the house. Conduits are placed in the trench containing a hot, ground, neutral, and a Cat5 cable. The Cat5 cable allows the system to take in weather and location data.
4. Once the array is secured to the base and wired up, the latitude and longitude of the area is programmed into the system and it can be powered up.

Kevin O’Connor and a specialist perform a whole-house energy audit. (See steps below.)
SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse
A professional whole-house energy assessment will examine your home’s insulation, appliances, lighting, and heating & cooling systems. It will also determine how airtight your home is. At the end of the assessment, the technician will provide a written report identifying and prioritizing the steps you can take to save energy. For more information about energy audits, visit this U.S. Department of Energy website [https://bit.ly/3f2j252].
Steps for How to Perform a Whole-House Energy Audit:
1. Check the energy rating on each appliance and light fixture. Look for Energy Star label or other low-usage ratings. Replace older products that are wasting electricity.
2. Inspect the water heater, and make note of any leaks, rust spots or lack of insulation. Also, check the heater’s age and energy efficiency.
3. Run a combustion safety test of the steam boiler with a combustion analyzer.
4. Use the analyzer to measure the temperature and ratio of gases inside the flue pipe.
5. Next, drill a small-diameter hole in the flue pipe, then use the analyzer to measure the air pressure and to ensure that the boiler is drafting (exhausting) properly.
6. Hold a smoke stick beside the flue to confirm that gases aren’t leaking back into the basement.
7. Install an electric blower door in the front doorway to test for air leaks throughout the house.
8. Close all windows and doors in the house. And shut fireplace dampers, then turn on the blower fan.
9. Use a smoke stick to check for leaks around doors, windows, fireplaces, vents and chimneys.
10. Take a handheld infrared sensor and check for temperature differences on the interior walls and ceilings. A cool spot is evidence of poor insulation or an air leak.
11. Use the infrared sensor to check for temperature changes around pull-down attic stairs.
12. Climb into the attic and inspect insulation in the attic floor; it should be at least 12 inches deep. Add more insulation, if necessary.
13. If the existing insulation is damaged or badly compressed, remove it and install new insulation.
14. Seal air-leaking gaps around the chimney with fire-rated flashing and caulking, then insulate around the chimney.[BR]
15. Seal all penetrations and gaps in the attic floor with expanding polyurethane caulk.
16. Make or buy a rigid-foam attic stair cover and install it over the opening for the pull-down staircase.
Our energy audit was conducted by Next Step Living.
The Infra-red camera used in the audit is manufactured by FLIR [https://www.flir.com/].
The smoke pencil and inflatable chimney damper are manufactured by Chimney Balloon [https://www.chimneyballoon.us/chimneyballoon.html].

Richard Trethewey checks out an Idea House in development and learns about energy efficiency building techniques.

Richard Trethewey goes to Devens, MA to visit a new house with advance building techniques. He meets builder Dan Gainsboro who says the entire heating season will only cost 00 or less for this new house—considerably lower than what our homeowners were paying to heat their house. He shows Richard how the houses in the development are built using 2×6 walls with insulated panel sheathing for a water and air-tight shield. Walls are insulated on the inside and the window openings are wrapped with flashing tape and even the headers are insulated. They used triple glazed windows throughout. The finished Idea House is a lovely small scale home with an open floor plan. The light fixtures use LEDs and the appliances are all Energy Star rated. In the well-insulated basement, there’s no mechanical room because mini-split heat pumps are used to heat and cool the entire house. And finally, Dan shows Richard the solar panels on the south facing roof of the garage. On a sunny day, the panels generate enough electricity to power the house for a family of four.

Solfeggio frequencies form part of an ancient scale that was rediscovered by Dr. Joseph Puleo in 1974. They are a 6 tone sequence of special electromagnetic frequencies. They were originally used in Gregorian chants many hundreds of years ago, and recently, they were brought back to everybody’s attention for their healing powers.
These frequencies induce movements of consciousness that will help stimulate new changes that are necessary for individuals who would like to achieve awakening. The frequencies are the following:
★ 396 Hertz: DO. It is usually related to guilt and fear, and how they can suppress other emotions as well. It is associated with the color red.
★ 417 Hertz: RE. It is usually related to past trauma and negativity and the willingness to change. This frequency can help you to recognize those past traumas that are no longer valuable in your life. It is associated with the color orange.
★ 528 Hertz: MI. It is usually related to DNA, peace of mind, and clarity. This frequency will help you heal and remove any sickness you may have. It is associated with the color yellow.
★ 639 Hertz: FA. It is usually related to Interpersonal relationships. This frequency will help you heal those difficult relationships you still have from the past while also reconnecting with those who are valuable in your present. It is associated with the color green.
★ 741 Hertz: SOL. It is usually related to the emotional stability you are looking for. This frequency will help you solve any problems you may have in your life. It is associated with the color blue.
★ 852 Hertz: LA. It is usually related to the views of oneself and the universe. It requires open space in order to allow intuition to come in. It is associated with the color indigo.
★ 963 Hertz: SI. it is usually related to the feeling of oneness. It means awakening and interconnected to the universe. This frequency helps you to reconnect with yourself. It is associated with the color purple.
It is understandable, however, to feel skeptical about the use of the Solfeggio frequencies and its application in real life. However, it is a well-known fact that music has healing properties.
How to get the best from the Solfeggio Frequencies?
You could try sitting or laying down, you could be on your couch or on the floor, you can do activities, work, relax, sleep. Do whatever resonates with you.
Choose a Solfeggio frequency track: Perhaps you would like to start at the beginning? It doesn’t matter, as there isn’t a specific order for them to be played…in fact, you can choose to do one if you would like to focus on that specific frequency for the time being. Our favorite is 528 Hz which resonates with the color green and the heart chakra.
You are ready to start: It is advisable to listen to the frequencies regularly, as you will get the best of them by doing so.
Listen 14 – 28 days for noticeable results and a positive shift.
Many experience a shift happening after the first couple of seconds of listening. Be consistent with it to truly raise your vibration to cleanse out old unconscious energy that holds one locked in a fear-based reality.
House Cleanse with 417Hz. This tone from this Solfeggio scale produces energy to bring about change. This frequency cleanses energy and clears destructive influences of past events.
Feng shui in your home.
It is also known as: 417 Hz – The revelation of truth. It allows the listener to release and convert the appearances of difficulty and setbacks, bringing order and inner listening to new heights of personal self-transformation.

Addresses the science of energy and energy efficiency and will include information on the factors that affect energy requirements including in depth information the science behind U-Values (comparison to R- values); Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient; low-E coatings; double glazing and triple glazing; effect of location and orientation on energy; shading etc.
Understanding the technology and testing comparisons will lead into the difference of upgrading windows, glass and selecting windows for a new build at the design stage. It will also educate on the limitations and effects on cost and will identify when and where fixtures and fittings such as awnings, screens and blinds integrate as systems for maximum benefit.
