Michael and Michelle were very involved with the design of their Passive House. They wanted a house that was beautiful, but also very energy efficient. Their beautiful bungalow uses less energy than it makes (net positive). “We can heat and cool the house with less than you’d use for running a hairdryer!”, says Michael. Using Passive House principles they were able to build a house that was efficient with space, efficient with energy, and would allow them to pass a positive sustainability message onto the next generation. Angola is an example of high potential of the African continent, the skies of which are always clear. Therefore, 85% of African soil receives more than 2000 kWh of solar energy per square meter in a year.

Angola is not an exception. Angola is aware of the right direction of development, introducing National energy plan, which outlines a gradual transition to the alternative energy sources.

Angola’s main idea at the Expo 2017 Astana is that alternative energy can defeat poverty. The visitors will be able to see the ideas for the realization of the free access to clean sources of energy, which in turn will contribute to the development of economy.

This idea will revolutionize the value of the renewable energy sources and will make the alternative energy a precious tool for improving the lives of poor people in Africa.
