Miles below the Earth’s surface, there’s enough thermal energy to power all of humanity for the foreseeable future. It’s called geothermal energy, and it’s poised to play an increasingly large role as a source of always available, renewable power. Now, there are a number of startups in the geothermal space, working to figure out how to access this heat in difficult to reach geographies, at a price point that makes sense. And it’s even gotten the attention of oil and gas industry giants, who are interested in greening their portfolios while sticking to their core competencies – extracting energy resources from deep within the Earth.

Wind is a valuable renewable energy source. Limitations like cost and space needed to build make it hard for some wind turbine projects to get off the ground. Hopefully, advancements can be made so that there is a way to store the energy that is produced via wind turbines in the future.

Clean energy from re-growing resources and waste. Biomass sounds like a perfect alternative power source. Globally, at least 5% of energy come from biomass. But what does it mean if we use organic matter for fuel or electricity?
We’re destroying our environment at an alarming rate. But it doesn’t need to be this way. Our new channel Planet A explores the shift towards an eco-friendly world — and challenges our ideas about what dealing with climate change means. We look at the big and the small: What we can do and how the system needs to change. Every Friday we’ll take a truly global look at how to get us out of this mess.

“Wood is one of the few energy sources that emits more carbon than coal.” Burning biomass allowed civilization to evolve and advance in remarkable ways, but smoke that comes as a byproduct is carbon-heavy and kills around 2 million people per year.

This hydroelectric power was built in 2020 and has a full 10 part series if you are interested in learning more. I have wanted to install micro hydro power for many years. I am happy to say that I now have a unit up and running. This is making anywhere from 100w to 450w depending on the rain level and season. The components of my install include
1. Elgin coanda intake screen
2. 55 gallon tank as silt catchment
3. 1100 feet of penstock providing 150 feet of head pressure
4. Pelton wheel and permanent magnet alternator from Langston’s alternative power
5. 250 feet of 10/3 wire
6. AC to DC rectifier
7. Midnite classic 250v charge controller
8. Grid tie limiter inverter
9. AGM batteries
10. Off Grid 6000w inverter

In this animated whiteboard animations tutorial, I will teach you about geothermal energy and how does geothermal power plant work.
Q: What is geothermal energy?
Ans: The heat energy extracted from inside the earth in the form of water and steam is known as geothermal energy or geothermal power.
The earth’s core contain hot magma in molten or semi molten form. When the underground water comes in contact with these hot rocks, they burst up into hot springs and steam. We can then convert this heat energy into other forms of energy like electrical energy, etc.

Electricity is very important to people. We use it to power our homes, cities and trains and cars.
One of the main ways we produce electricity is with the use of a generator. A generator is a device that converts mechanical kinetic energy into electrical energy.
A wind turbine is a very large windmill that uses the kinetic energy in wind to spin its blades. The blades spin a generator that transforms the energy into electrical energy.
Often, particularly in very windy places, many wind turbines are grouped together to form a wind farm. Wind farms can produce enough electricity to power whole cities.
A big advantage of wind energy is that it is a clean and renewable energy source. It does not require the burning of fuels and does not produce harmful emissions in to the air.
There are some disadvantages of using wind energy. The large spinning blades on a wind turbine can kill or harm flying animal like birds and bat. They can produce loud sounds that can disturb natural environments and be annoying to people. And if damaged, wind turbines can be expensive to repair.
