“Wood is one of the few energy sources that emits more carbon than coal.” Burning biomass allowed civilization to evolve and advance in remarkable ways, but smoke that comes as a byproduct is carbon-heavy and kills around 2 million people per year.

Biomass explained: Learn how forest and agriculture “leftovers” are used to create renewable energy. Most US biomass power producers use byproducts as fuel for electricity – materials like rice hulls or tree tops and limbs that can’t be made into another product. Not only is biomass a carbon neutral form of electricity, it also reduces the abundant organic waste created from other industries.
Sajid Mustafa and Rehan Tahir from Royal Bio Energy have taken an initiative to design and sell biomass burner stoves. Developed after extensive research; these burner stoves are not only eco friendly but also cheap. The fuel is created through organic waste which helps save the environment. They are also very easy to use, with zero smoke emission. It is very convenient for domestic use and will soon be introduced for commercial use as well. For thousands of years biomass (organic matter) was the primary source of energy. Since the industrial revolution, the combustion of fossil fuels, accounting for 87% of today’s global energy package, has replaced biomass as the primary source. Yet issues surrounding energy and food production and sustainable development engender new perspectives on the production of bio-fuels, especially from by-products of agro-industry and forestry. Biomass, now supporting 10% of world energy consumption, could increase to provide 25% of global energy needs.
This film combines figures, schematics, and interviews with professionals in the field (e.g. economist, farmer, mechanic, researcher, aircraft manufacturer…). The potential for biomass is evident, but its usage must be rational, optimized and adapted to local environments.
